Pisa Robot Film Festival

Dear filmmakers,

Thank you for your enthusiastic response to our call for films. We have received 921 submissions so far. Based on our initial review, around 100 films are in line with the festival’s theme of robots and robotics.

In light of the number of submissions and for organisational reasons, we have decided to postpone the Pisa Robot Film Festival competition event, originally scheduled for 4–6 December 2026 (in Pisa, Italy), to 2027. We will announce the new dates once they are confirmed.

The deadline to complete your registration remains 25 November 2026. To complete your registration, please fill in, sign and return both the Registration Form and the Release Form.

The Official Selection will be announced on 15 January 2027. Selected filmmakers will also be notified directly.

Thank you for your understanding and for sharing your work with us.

The PRFF Team

The PRFF is an international film competition with awards, dedicated to short films exploring the theme of robots and robotics. The competition is open to works in three main categories: fiction, documentary, and animation, and also includes a special Junior/School category reserved for young filmmakers and primary and secondary school students.

For the 2026 edition, there are several important new features:

1. Registration is free of charge for all participants.
2. The Junior/School category is now also open to young filmmakers aged 25 or under.
3. Article 12 regulates the use of Artificial Intelligence in submitted works.
4. The Festival has established a media partnership with RAI Cinema Channel.

For the time being, films can be submitted through the FilmFreeway platform. Over the next few days, we will update the Festival website and upload the documents required to complete the registration process: the Registration Form and the Release Form.

We are currently working on the 2026 edition of the Pisa Robot Film Festival, expected to take place this autumn. We are actively seeking sponsors and funding to make this edition possible. Should we fall short of the necessary resources, the festival will be postponed to 2027 to ensure the high-quality event you expect.

Stay tuned and check this page regularly for updates.

Thank you for your patience and support!
